Dr. Sombo Muzata earned her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Policy and Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, USA and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Heriot Watt University. A trained Chartered Accountant of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Dr. Muzata also received executive training from the University of Oxford’s Said Business School. Her research is at the intersection of governance and business, and she is published in the Journal of African Business, Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management, and Administrative Theory & Praxis. She has written book chapters that have been published by Springer Nature and Springer International. Dr. Muzata is a two-time recipient of the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship grant hosted at the University of Pretoria. She is also an appointed Research Associate at the University of Pretoria. She has received numerous trainings in academic research, writing, and productivity.
As CEO of PAIR, Dr. Muzata provides academic leadership for the institute’s research programs, training initiatives, and scholarly publications.
Her responsibilities include:
- Overseeing research training programs
- Guiding the institute’s research and academic agenda
- Leading academic partnerships with universities
- Managing editorial and publishing platforms
Dr. Muzata’s vision is to build a continental institution that equips African scholars with the tools necessary to produce globally respected research while addressing Africa’s development challenges.
